Casually chatting with Ron and Mike some more about specific benefits in the programs. Here we discuss the differences between trip interruption and trip cancellation. Learn the difference between these benefits.
When I saw the Here2There Program and I saw trip cancellation and trip interruption listed, I thought, "Aren't those the same thing?" Can you further explain what the difference is between the two?
Ron: "I understand why people could be a little confused, but it really is simple to understand. Trip cancellation is when you have to cancel the trip, for whatever reason, prior to initiating the trip at the start. So for example, if you [are ready to leave on a trip], a trip cancelation would be when you're ready to go and something happens the day before and now 'I'm sorry we can't go on the trip'.
Trip interruption would be now you have initiated [the trip], and it could be that you were flying somewhere to go on a cruise or to some destination resort, you have actually started your trip: so you have gotten on the plane, you've boarded, you've landed, even if it's just your connection port, and then you get the phone call that something has happened back home. Whatever it is, your trip has been interrupted.
In trip cancellation, you're cancelling the whole trip [whereas] in trip interruption, you could rejoin the trip, if its possible, or it ends up [that] you've interrupted the trip and it ends at that point. That's the difference."
